Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Mourns Death of His French Bulldog Hobbs: ‘I’ve Been Numb Over This Loss’

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has shared that Hobbs, his beloved French bulldog, has died.

On Monday, The Rock posted on Instagram announcing Hobbs’ passing. The post included a carousel of touching photos and videos of the actor and his dog over the years. In his caption, Rocky explained how tough the loss has been for him and his family.

“I’ve been numb over this loss, but we’re so grateful for every ounce of pure love he gave our entire family and we’re so grateful he didn’t suffer long as he quietly and bravely left in the night,” Johnson wrote. “Lately, there’s been a lot that’s too big to talk about. Lonesome, lonely, heard it’s all the same. One of my favorite songs felt appropriate here, as I wonder what’s going on his new world, because I know what it’s like in mine.”

Johnson adopted Hobbs and the dog’s brother, Brutus, in 2015. The family welcomed the pups, but Brutus died shortly after when he ate a toxic mushroom. That incident happened weeks after Johnson had to jump in a pool to save him from drowning.

The former professional wrestler made an appearance on a recent episode of WWE Smackdown! during which he walked out to a remix of Lil Wayne’s “Tha Block Is Hot” as his entrance music.

In a press conference, The Rock revealed why he used the New Orleans legend’s song.

“I’ve always been a big fan of Lil Wayne. I’ve always been a big fan of Louisiana hip-hop from Master P, Juvenile, Birdman, 504. All of those guys,” Johnson said. “Those are my guys. I came up in Miami and South Florida. Those are my influences. I love all of those guys. I felt like, we’re coming to New Orleans.”
